Does a sculpture have to have certain dimensions?
AUM asked the question:
I have learned many rules in my 3D class, like inside and outside space, and interest from all angles. I feel confined and I wonder if any sculptors can help me. Can a two-dimensional object with an inch of depth hanging be a sculpture? What are the guidelines you have for yourselves? Thank You for Sharing!

I must say,Vince you said it eloquently . I can only add, that as a starving artist, mainly sculptures in steel,
the market can be fickle so have a backup job if you want to eat while creating.
No of course not.
Coins and medals are sculpture.
Much glass sculpture made at the torch is so small it has to be studied at a distance of a few inches. like these from this page on my site.
Chinese ivory and jade includes amazing small flat and 3D pieces.
And modern sculpture, even abstract, is often huge, creating a new environment for the viewer - This piece of curved Corten steel slabs is taller than the building of the Ft. Worth Modern art museum.
