I cant seem to chose the right career for me. Im a 15 year old sophmore- is it too late to decide?

xxm3sm0riz3dxx asked the question:

First let me tell you what type of person I am- so you can help me better.

I am a very creative person. I am very good at learning things on my own. I have looked at variety of careers. And some are so different I just cant decide. Im not interested in salary- Im interested in being happy.

Ive thought about psychiatrist, interior designer, architect, graphic designer, or a writer.

Right now as a sophmore Im taking advanced english 2, sculpture 1, a video production class, and personal family living. And creativity can not be taught so thats just something i was blessed with.

Im very scared that i will never find something im good at or something i can see myself doing for the rest of my life. and im so confused.

I want to learn a bit more about classical (greek and roman) art, what do you know about it?

alpha mutt asked the question:

Aside from being greek/roman and from that period, what makes it classical? And what are some of it’s most notable characteristics? Which are it’s most known artists? Are all the sculptures just people standing around, or did they sculpt animals, and what about paintings?

Ok, I admit it, this is for homework, but maybe you could at least point me in the right direction, or maybe tell me where I could find some information, I tried wikipedia and some searches, no luck. Could you post some websites I could try?

Thanks a bunch.

What universities have the best art history programs?

Michiko asked the question:

I want to major in Art History, and my main interest is in classical European painting and sculpture. What universities have a strong program that will suit my interest? I’d prefer to be on the east coast or in Texas. Chicago sounds nice, too. =)
But basically I’d be interested in learning about schools anywhere.

Oh, and I thought I’d mention that my own artistic abilities are pretty much nonexistant at this point. A program focused solely on art history or one where there’s a lot of help for beginning artists would be good.

Can a person get a cake decorating job without going to culinary school?

~ asked the question:

I took some Wilton classes in the late 90s and really enjoyed learning how to decorate cakes. I once inquired at a local cake shop about jobs and they said I needed an art degree. Their cakes are like 3-D sculptures. Well, I’m sure not all places have the same requirements. Just wondering if entry-level cake decorating jobs are available for those with no professional experience. Also, how is the pay?

Contemporary Art: Sculpture?

artsy veggie asked the question:

I’m out of the loop: I’ve been studying art for the past 3 years pretty heavily, but I’d really like to learn about current trends in art. I’m mostly interested in sculpture and installation works. Particularly: assemblage, recycled, altered objects (like books) I also really like collections of objects presented in interesting ways.

so please, if you have any artists in particular that would be great, also art blogs, museums, art galleries, openings etc. anything would be greatly appreciated.

Artwork on brains, some help please?

Ruby asked the question:

At school we are doing site specific sculptures and site specific installations, im choosing the topic of brains and am going to use a brain jello mold as my brains, using plaster (most likely)

my theme for the work is that during high school kids take their brains for granted cause its not “cool” interested more in going to parties than learning.. so any ideas of how i could display this idea? (my first idea was to have a large pink, healthy brain in the library or something and then a dark, bruised one say, outside the principals office)

pleease pleasse help!

What do you remember or like about art class?

kjoco9 asked the question:

What did you learn?
What did you like?
Did you make art or look at it, or both?
Did you learn about artists’ in the field?
Did you learn about design?
What about art history? Did you sleep through slideshows?
Did you do sculpture?
What would you have added to the course/class if you could have?

Answers to these or any of your own questions would be awesome.

quote help needed?

vishal asked the question:

There is a quote about Michelangelo which states:
“Other sculptors have to learn sculpture, but Michelangelo would have to learn to not be sculptor”. Who said it.

I am only paraphrasing, and I know it ain’t that good ( the paraphrasing that is).
